The other day I’ve watched a chinese TV show, and there’s a scene hooked my attention,I thought why not turn it into a 3d scene which is going to be fun.

I tried my best to mimick the scene and simplify the scene into my own version in the Hero image on the top of this page as you can see. It’s been a small challenge to remake something that exists for hundreds of years, because people can tell the difference from the details.

I’ve quickly built up the space and then trying to experimenting the lightening,to make the whole environment looked more realistic and more like the scene from the movie.

I’ve spent a lot of time collecting all the texture images in weeks, wood textures, octane has a really easy logic for the designers,we combine both wooden ao,bump,4k wood image textures into one node and then use projection for the bruises and stains on the floor to make it look more realistic.

When it comes to textures like metal or gold, lightening is always the key to make everything looks more real.We normally need at least three different lights for those specific materials. A ceiling light,a natural sky and a light sometimes against the object,to illustrate the lines and shadows.

For this scene,I’ve learnt again some new tricks,I just found out we could actually made a piece of glass into Tyndall, and simple as that can speed up our process a lot,and it’s so much easier to control.
